Ed Sheeran has bookended 2017 with two chart topping singles on the Billboard Hot 100. After opening the year with “Shape of You” claiming the top spot, he has propelled his current ballad “Perfect” to similar heights thanks to a last-minute feature from none other than Beyonce. To celebrate the impressive feat, he stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge today (December 12) to perform his current hit.

Dressed in his best Christmas sweater, the 26-year-old delivered a faithful rendition of the track. His vocals were predictably strong, and the heartfelt ballad remains one of the most lovingly written releases of the year. The only thing missing was his duet partner, who is likely celebrating her tenth number one single in her own way.

The “Castle on the Hill” crooner also invited Anne-Marie to join him for a festive cover of the Pogues and Kirsty McColl’s “Fairytale of New York.” Opening over a sparse instrumentation, Ed’s voice was warm and welcoming, but the performance picked up when the “Alarm” siren came in for her verse. As an added surprise, the pair ended their collaboration with a rousing rendition of “Jingle Bells.” Talk about making the feature all sorts of joyful!

Although early predictions imply that the “Perfect” remix will drop down to the number 2 spot on next week’s charts, Ed is not done with his promotional campaign just yet. The crooner has also teamed up with Italian legend Andrea Bocelli to record yet another remix of the track. Set to drop next week, it is likely to give the single one final boost on the charts. Until then watch his performance of “Perfect” up top and then watch him and Anne-Marie get festive below!
