Tove Styrke could do no wrong in 2017. The Swedish pop star dropped two of the best singles of the year (“Say My Name” and “Mistakes”) and landed a support slot on Lorde’s Melodrama World Tour. She joins the Kiwi on March 1 in Milwaukee, but shows her appreciation by sharing a surprise cover of “Liability.” Like everything else the 25-year-old touched this year, it’s hard to fault. Tove transforms the stripped-back ballad into a perky pop song, which is nothing less than an act of alchemy.

“It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Lorde and everything she creates,” the dance-pop diva explains. “And the fact that I’ll get to tour with her next year still blows my freaking mind every time I think about it. I got this idea to make a little something while preparing for the tour and being in the studio finishing my upcoming singles and album. Yay for multitasking! So I made this cover of one of my favorite songs, ‘Liability.'” Listen below and get tickets to Lorde’s 2018 shows here.
