Waiting is hard, especially when you’re waiting for your favorite artist to release new music. The artists on this list promised fans they would drop new tracks and albums, but never followed through. A few of them passed away without their last created music ever being shared. Here is the music you’ll probably never hear, and yes, we’re upset too.

When rumors started swirling that Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain had started a solo project, fans were ecstatic. Apparently, Cobain had recorded some tracks in his Seattle home shortly before he died in 1994. Filmmaker Brett Morgen created a documentary on Cobain’s life and reports that he stumbled upon the recorded solo tracks while going through archives. Morgen told Billboard, “These aren’t multi-track, finished songs or work-ups, but they’re extraordinary, and I think they provide a tremendous insight into his process. I think they further our understanding of Kurt, both as a musician and as a man.”

Did you know Queen Bey almost had a joint project with her husband?
