Katy Perry’s “Hey Hey Hey” Video Is An Outrageous Blockbuster
After hyping the clip with a series of stills, Katy Perry’s “Hey Hey Hey” video arrives today (December 20) and it’s as extravagant and outrageous as the teasers suggest. Directed by Isaac Rentz and filmed in Beverly Hills, the blockbuster finds the pop star giving her best Marie Antoinette impression. Only with a twist. Instead of being a cake-obsessed enemy of the common man, our heroine spends her days dreaming of escape. She’s sick of the clothes, the duties and, most of all, her chosen suitor.
As such, Katy escapes into a dream world where her alter-ego is a sword-wielding bad ass with a bowl cut. It’s fun, silly and still strangely empowering like most of the 33-year-old’s best videos. In case you’re wondering why she’s releasing the clip now, it’s simply a festive offering to fans according to the press release. There doesn’t seem to be a full rollout behind it or official single release. Escape into Katy’s bonkers world up top.
