Allie X and VERITE teamed up for a bold music video in support of their joint single, “Casanova.” Two of the brightest up-and-coming acts in pop, the pair joined forces for a remix of the track in November. After the original rendition became a fan-favorite on Allie’s CollXtion II EP, the duet version added a new dimension to the lovelorn banger.

On it they sing about the disinterested lovers they cannot get out of their minds. “Casanova, fucked me over, left me dying for your love,” they sing in perfect harmony over the bouncing production. Released today (December 28), the music video provides the twosome another opportunity to reveal their artistic chemistry. Coming more than a month after the duet was released, it was well worth the wait.

Directed by India Sleem and with a sponsorship from Google’s product line, the video is a colorful release. In it, Allie, VERITE and a team of dancers rock their best oversized power suits. Opting to keep the staging simple, the highlight is how the pair interact with one another. Dressed in complimentary colors, they are the sole bright spots of color in a sea of neutrals.

“Xercise the Demon,” Allie has said in promotion of the video. Boasting an all-female cast, it is as though she and VERITE have finally found the strength to leave the toxic relationships in their past and to join forces in a moment of female empowerment. The visual is a good deal less unnerving than Allie’s “Paper Love” treatment, but it is equally compelling in its own ways. Watch the pair in action up top!
