On November 15, the music world was hit with the hard news that 21-year-old rapper Lil Peep (Gustav Åhr) had passed away due to a suspected drug overdose. Although it was not surprising to some due to his open discussion of his depression, drug use, and addiction in his music, it didn’t make it any less hard. He had built a massive following on YouTube and had just recently dropped his debut and well-received LP Come Over When You’re Sober which hinted at an incredibly successful career in the making. After his body was discovered, he was rushed to the hospital but wasn’t able to be revived. Although he had talked openly about suicide on social media it was announced by medical examiners that his cause of death had been an accidental overdose caused by a mixtures of fentanyl and Xanax.
