In 2012, two of the biggest female hip-hop up-and-comers were Iggy Azalea and Azealia Banks. They began to take notice of each other when XXL’s 2012 freshman class included Iggy Azalea as its first female freshman. So, obviously, Azealia Banks decided to speak her mind on Twitter to show who’s boss. She proceeded to promote rumors that Iggy calls herself a “runaway slave master” which was the straw that broke the camels back. The feud between the two girls lasted for over three years, until in 2015 when Iggy said “We don’t like each other on a personal level, and that has gone on for too many years”.
