Katy Perry's 'Witness': Album Review
Katy Perry boldly explores club sub-genres on her banger-heavy new album.

It looks like Katy Perry has already started planning her 5th album. In an interview with Music Week, producer Steve Mac revealed that they are about to get in the studio. “I’ve got a Years & Years track, BastilleNick Jonas, and hopefully I’m just about to start working with Katy Perry as well,” the man behind mega-hits like Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” and Liam Payne’s “Strip That Down” said of his upcoming projects. “The opportunities at the moment are incredible. I never thought I’d be here in my career 27 years on.”

While that might seem a little fast given that the Witness World Tour runs until August, the timing is in line with comments Capitol CEO Steve Barnett made in a Q&A with Variety. “Engagement is so important and I don’t believe you can have big cycles between projects,” he singled out as the main reason Witness underperformed. “I think that’s changed.” Hopefully, we’ll get something new by the end of the year. And if Steve Mac is involved, it’s destined to be radio-friendly and catchy as hell. Let the comeback begin!
