Kylie Minogue & Tove Lo To Headline NYC Pride’s Pride Island
Kylie Minogue and Tove Lo have signed on for headlining performances during NYC’s Pride this year. Today (February 27), it was announced that the pop icons will perform during the second annual Pride Island, a two-day event taking place on June 23 and 24. Launched in 2017 as an evolution of the historic Dance on the Pier, Pride Island is marketed as a “central hub for the LGBTQ community to celebrate Pride” in New York and features performers from a variety of genres.
Tove will take the stage for her headlining set on the first evening of the event. The 30-year-old is likely to bring the heat with a series of hits including “Habits (Stay High),” “Talking Body” and last year’s iconic “Disco Tits.” Meanwhile, Kylie takes the stage on June 24. The “Dancing” diva will help close out the evening with performances of beloved hits but will hopefully include material from her forthcoming album, Golden.
Other notable performers at this year’s event include Lizzo and Big Freedia. In a press release for the event, Pride Island Director Jose Ramos expressed his excited for the talent. “With the success of last year’s Pride Island, we are thrilled to bring back our music festival in a two-day format,” he said. “Kylie Minogue, Tove Lo, Lizzo, and Big Freedia are perfect examples of the evolution of Dance on the Pier.”
Promotion is certainly heating up for Kylie as she prepares to unveil her fourteenth studio album this April. Last week the timeless hitmaker was booked to headline White Party Palm Springs, another LGBGQ extravaganza taking place in Florida. She also announced a tour across the UK and Ireland that will take place between September and October and a series of more intimate club gigs in March.
Tickets for Pride Island go on sale March 1, and funds will help NYC Pride host future events over the course of 2018 and into the new year. Learn more about the event and keep an eye out for ticket availability here!
