Meghan Trainor is back, and she returned on one of the sassiest pop bops in recent memory. The 24-year-old rolled out her highly anticipated single, “No Excuses,” today (March 1), and she has a serious hit on her hands. Following in the footsteps of feisty material like “Lips Are Moving” and “No,” her latest is a confident take-down of a boy who is not treating her with respect.

“What you sipping on that got you talking crazy? Looking at me sideways, always coming at me. Why you, why you acting hard when you just a baby. Boy, I keep it real with you, but you trying to play me,” she belts over an incandescent beat courtesy of Andrew Wells. “Your mama raised you better than that,” Meghan proclaims on the chorus. Armed with the fiery production and playful lyrics, she sounds right at home on the hot track, and if possible the music video is even more fun.

Directed by Colin Tilley, it is a pastel-hued thing of beauty that sees the pop star and two clones of herself dancing along to the track. Rocking some chic looks and delivering cute choreography, it is a fun spectacle that is sure to give the single a promotional boost. Meghan is scheduled to perform “No Excuses” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show tomorrow (March 2) so she is clearly aiming for a quick takeover. If she plays her cards right, she should be able to kickstart her new era with another top 10 hit. Give the single a listen and check out the video up top!
