AURORA returns today (April 16) with the lead single from her sophomore LP, an empowering anthem called “Queendom.” The Norwegian pop pixie describes it as “a song where all that has been silent can sing, all that has been weak can fight back and all that has been suppressed can be seen.” The track has special significance for her, as “a song about my own little world. My queendom. A place where I am the world, where the sun is a crown and sea waves are a gown. It’s a safe place. Small, but big enough to fit all the people in the world.”

While it’s still very personal and quintessentially AURORA, “Queendom” also represents something from the stark and introspective pop of debut LP, All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend. The track is more outward looking and worldly — a call of arms for women’s and LGBTQ rights. It’s also incredibly catchy electro-pop song. The production is suitably vast and icy, and there’s an instantly catchy chorus that worms its way into your head from the first listen. Check out the rising star’s latest gem below.
