Cher Performs ABBA’s “Fernando” At CinemaCon In Las Vegas
2018 is shaping up to be a big year for Cher. She has a scene-stealing (if the trailer is any indication) role in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, the long-overdue sequel to the 2008 movie musical, as well as her Classic Cher residency and — hopefully — new music in the works. The 71-year-old is going all out to promote the former, making a surprise appearance at CinemaCon in Las Vegas to serenade theatre owners with a rousing rendition of ABBA’s “Fernando,” which I assume she also performs in the movie.
It goes without saying that the pop legend wasn’t just going to walk on stage with a microphone. From a clip filmed on a lucky attendee’s phone, you can see that Cher went all out — descending on a mechanical staircase covered in giant leaves, before joining the dancers on stage. As excited as I am for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, I would really love to get a new album from the “Believe” diva. Her last LP, Closer To The Truth, was a lot of fun, but she can do better as the iconic Burlesque soundtrack proves. Watch her in action below.
⚠️POP EMERGENCY!⚠️ @CHER just performed Fernando, from #MammaMia2, at #CINEMACON in Las Vegas.
