It has arrived! Today (April 27) Camila Cabello rolled out her Kane Brown-assisted remix of “Never Be The Same.” The 21-year-old teased the countrified take on the track earlier this week with a cryptic promise on social media. “I. HAVE. A SURPRISE. FOR YOU. THIS WEEK,” she tweeted. Meanwhile the rising country star alluded to his involvement by replying with the flame emoji. The new rendition of the track does not stray far from the original. In fact, it sounds like they simply added Kane’s voice to the existing recording. Although it was a quick fix, the end result offers a fresh take and is likely to become something of a radio and streaming hit.

The ethereal production opens without any obvious changes, with Kane coming in to deliver the second verse. His smoky voice is the perfect complement to Camila’s breathy delivery on the chorus, and he finds some nice harmonies with the pop princess as things progress. The collaboration is the latest in a line of country-pop hybrids that have sprung up since Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line dominated the charts with their Americana-laced “Meant To Be.” After peaking at the number 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 (and historically topping the Hot Country chart), it is still showing serious staying power. Meanwhile, Zedd and Maren Morris’ “The Middle” is sitting pretty at the number 5 spot this week.

The newly arrived remix is likely to give the track a boost up the charts. “Never Be The Same” is currently sitting just outside the top 10 on the Hot 100. And this could be the push it needs to edge out the competition next week. Admittedly, it would have been nice for the “Havana” superstar to rerecord her vocals to make for a true duet with the “Heaven” crooner. However, considering she is in the midst of her Never Be The Same Tour, it makes sense that it would be difficult for her to find the time to get into the studio. Give the track a spin below!
