This Is Not A Drill! ABBA Is Releasing Two New Songs

You might need to take a seat. Swedish supergroup ABBA is releasing not one, but two new songs. Agnetha, Anni-Frid (or Frida), Benny and Björn waved goodbye to the music world in 1983 and have been happily pursuing solo projects ever since. That is, until someone had the genius idea of launching a very different kind of tour. “The decision to go ahead with the exciting ABBA avatar tour project had an unexpected consequence,” the group writes on Instagram. (Yes, they’re on social media). “We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio.”

“It was like time had stood still and we only had been away on a short holiday,” the statement continues. “An extremely joyful experience!” The session was also fruitful, resulting in two new songs. “One of them ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ will be performed by our digital selves in a TV special produced by NBC and the BBC aimed for broadcasting in December. We may have come of age, but the song is new. And it feels good.” With Mamma Mia! 2 hitting movie theaters in July, 2018 is shaping up to be the year of ABBA. And I couldn’t be more excited.
