Florence + The Machine return on Thursday (May 3) with a new single called “Hunger.” (The A.G. Rojas-directed video drops on the same day). The UK group recently dropped “Sky Full Of Song” for Record Store Day, but this is expected to be the official lead single from their upcoming 4th LP. That opus is rumored to be called High As Hope, and said to include production from Mark Ronson. The album is expected to drop in June after the group’s (brief) trip to North America for intimate shows in New York and Los Angeles.

It will be interesting to see which direction Florence & Co. take this time around. Lungs and Ceremonials have a distinct pop sensibility, while 2015’s (underrated) How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful was a more alternative and experimental affair. The lovely “Sky Full Of Song” and involvement of Mark suggest they might have found some kind of middle ground. If you can’t hang on until Thursday, make sure you hear Flo’s stunning cover of “Tiny Dancer,” the absolute highlight of Revamp — the recently-released Elton John tribute album.
