Liam Payne teams up with Latin superstar J Balvin for new single 'Familiar.'

Liam Payne and J Balvin take over Miami in the sexy video for their Latin-tinged bop, “Familiar.” The former One Directioner teamed up with the Colombian superstar for his latest single last month. Today (May 4), they rolled out the video, and it brings the lyrics to life. In it, the collaborators light up the city as they host a dance off on the roof of a parking garage. Showing off his toned body, the 24-year-old exudes confidence as he watches the action. Eventually they make it to a club, where he delivers some choreography of his own surrounded by a group of backup dancers. Boasting slick dance moves and a simple but effective plot, it is one of his most effective visuals to date.

“Familiar” is off to a solid start, and it shows signs of becoming a massive hit as we move into the summer months. In the two weeks since its release, the single has amassed nearly 16 million streams on Spotify, and its jewel-toned lyric video was viewed more than 11 million times. Although it hasn’t impacted the Billboard Hot 100 yet, it has already soared into the top 40 on the UK Singles Chart. Streams for the official video are sure to give it a boost. With any luck, the sensual anthem will replicate the success of last year’s indomitable “Despacito”.

Things are looking very good for Liam right about now. His tropical-inspired anthem “Bedroom Floor” missed the top 20 in his home country and barely hit the charts in the US. However, he rapidly turned things around. The crooner netted his second top 10 in the UK alongside Rita Ora on their Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack contribution, “For You.” The soaring anthem peaked at 76 on the Billboard Hot 100, but it seems safe to assume that “Familiar” will soar even higher. Give the video a view up top!
