“In A Past Life I Must Have Been A Porn Star” & Other Quotes From Xtina’s ‘Liberation’ Teaser
Christina Aguilera explains what liberation means to her in a new album preview, which dropped over the weekend. Where’s Maria? begins with some very personal footage (at one point we even see Xtina sitting on the toilet) as she talks about topics as diverse as journalling and her mother’s unhappy marriage. Nothing is off limits as the hitmaker muses about getting in touch with her body. “Such a freedom for me was being able to be fearless and strong in my own sexuality and express that creatively,” she reveals. “I really feel like in a past life I must have been a porn star.”
Eventually, the topic turns toward Liberation (due June 15). “The inspiration of the album, to me the purest of reasons, is to get back to that little girl who just wants to be inspired again by truth and by that sense of passion for music and singing and just feeling free and alive again,” Christina explains. “I’ve stepped so far away from that little girl and if that means going away for a little while and figuring out who you are again and what you have to say, then that’s what you need to do.”
The “Accelerate” queen is clearly feeling unapologetic as she winds things up with this gem: “Fuck it, this is who I am and whoever’s not on board can suck my dick.” Fair enough. Get a glimpse inside Xtina’s world up top.
