The Drop: Hatchie & LOVA
Your guide to New Music Friday featuring gems from Hatchie and LOVA.

EDIT: You can now stream the Swede’s impressive debut EP below.

With two viral hits generating serious buzz, LOVA ranks as one of 2018’s most exciting new voices. “I want to take over the world,” the Swedish singer/songwriter says. “I want to be the biggest I can be.” And she’s off to a flying start with “You Me And The Silence” and “Insecurities.” The former is an oddball concoction that blends ’60s pop elements with very modern production, while the latter is an infinitely relatable bop about the ongoing war that rages in everyone’s head.

“I definitely want to be a role model for younger girls because I know how hard it can be,” the 19-year-old admits. “Role models should make mistakes and own up to them and grow from them. You’re human.” Both songs will feature on the LOVA’s debut EP, Scripted Reality, which drops on May 25. To get some idea of her pop pedigree, she is set to perform at the Queens of Pop Festival in Sweden on August 3 alongside global hitmakers Zara Larsson, Icona Pop and ALMA. Listen to the extremely catchy “Insecurities” below.
