Madonna's 10 Most Underrated Singles
From 'Bad Girl' to 'Ghosttown, we round up Madonna's most underrated singles.

The Queen of Pop is preparing to reclaim her throne. Madonna has been putting in work on a follow-up to 2015 LP, Rebel Heart, and it looks like she is almost ready to deliver the first taste of the project. Today (May 17), she took to social media to tease the imminent release of what appears to be a new single titled “Beautiful Game.” The icon debuted a snippet of the track during a performance at the Met Gala earlier this month. Uploading a filtered photo from the performance, she appeared to confirm the title and promised that it was “coming soon” and would be “#magic.”

There aren’t a lot of details about the release just yet. However, based on footage from her first performance it sounds like a sparse and hard-hitting mid-tempo. “It’s a beautiful plan, but I’m not concerned. It’s a beautiful game, that I never learned. You have taught me to shut my mouth, better not to get burned. Keep your beautiful lies cause I’m not concerned,” she sings over a cutting production. The darker sound will stand out as we get ready for a summer of sugary bops, and with any luck Madonna may wind up with a hit on her hands.

It appears that Madge has reunited with frequent collaborator Mirwais on the single. The twosome have a lengthy history of creating hits together. In particular, he contributed to 2000’s Music, 2003’s American Life and 2005’s Confessions on a Dance Floor. The Frenchman is credited as the 59-year-old’s co-producer and writer on the title track to her 2000 LP, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and went platinum in the US. The “Living For Love” singer confirmed rumors that she had linked up with him again to cook up fresh hits last month with a post on Instagram. Uploading a video from between takes in the studio, she teased that new music was in the works.

Considering she tagged both posts as “#magic,” it looks like they were working on “Beautiful Game” at the time. Check out her latest teaser below.
