Demi Lovato dances away heartbreak on her Clean Bandit collaboration, “Solo.” The 25-year-old has become something of a club queen recently. Last year alone she netted crossover hits with the likes of Cheat Codes and Jax Jones. And her latest is foray into EDM is one of her strongest yet. Released today (May 18), it is a searing breakup anthem tailor made for late nights at the bar. After announcing the release earlier this week it became one of the most anticipated contributions to New Music Friday. Unsurprisingly, it more than lives up to expectations.

Opening with a buoyant production, Demi’s vocals are absolutely on point. Playing the role of the woebegone ex, she attempts to find a distraction in a new man with little luck. “Since you’ve been gone I’ve been dancing on my own. There’s boys up in my zone, but they can’t turn me on. Cause baby you’re the only one I’m coming for,” she admits before hitting the stuttering chorus. “I wanna f-woop woop woop, but I’m broken hearted. Cry, but I like to party. Touch, but I got nobody. So I do it solo.” The liberating anthem is all sorts of relatable and feels like another win for both parties involved.

The Tell Me You Love Me siren has a lot to celebrate this week. She is already sitting comfortably on iTunes charts across the globe alongside Christina Aguilera on their empowering duet “Fall In Line.” Its accompanying lyric video has amassed more than 2.5 million views on YouTube, and it seems a music video is on the way. With a high-profile performance scheduled for this Sunday (May 20) at the Billboard Music Awards, the pair should have a respectable hit on their hands. At the rate things are going, Demi will be competing with herself on the charts.

All things considered, “Solo” could shape up to be another meteoric hit of its own. The club-ready banger should easily dominate radio and fill dance floors throughout the summer. I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes Clean Bandit’s fourth number one in the UK. The group cracked the top 5 with their Julia Michaels-assisted “I Miss You” and nabbed the top spot twice in a row with “Rockabye” and “Symphony.” With Demi’s combined star power, they should have no problem hitting it big once again.
