Future Hit: Kris Wu Comes Through With Summery Single “Like That”
Chinese-Canadian singer Kris Wu got his start with K-Pop boy band EXO, before pulling the plug and embarking on a solo career. It turned out to be an inspired decision. The 27-year-old has gone from strength to strength, balancing appearances in blockbuster movies with hit singles. He cemented his status as a global superstar in 2017 when “Deserve,” his drowsy collaboration with Travis Scott, topped US iTunes. The unexpected hitmaker might just do it again with “Like That.”
More pop than previous offerings, Kris’ latest is a breezy bop with a romantic twist. “[It] has a chill summertime vibe, it feels dreamy and trippy and takes you to another world,” he says of the FKi 1st-produced anthem. “The song is about seeing a beautiful girl across the room and taking a chance on what could happen next.” From the mellow production to the layers of harmonies, there’s a lot to love about “Like That.” We know Kris can conquer iTunes, now he just needs a radio hit and this has all the ingredients.
“Like That” will feature on the superstar’s debut LP, due later this year via Interscope. Listen below.
