First Live Performance! Celine Dion Adds “Ashes” To Las Vegas Residency
Celine Dion’s “Ashes” is shaping up to be the pop icon’s biggest hit in a decade. The soaring ballad, which has been propelled by a hilarious video and a prominent spot in Deadpool 2, is currently sitting at number nine on iTunes worldwide. (It’s at number 21 and climbing in the US). While the song’s chart prospects will be hampered by low streaming numbers, it could eventually crack the Billboard Hot 100. If so, it would be the 50-year-old’s first entry since “The Prayer” in 2008.
And the Canadian songbird is doing her part to keep the momentum going. Celine added “Ashes” to the setlist of her ongoing residency at The Colosseum in Las Vegas last night (May 22) and it sounds amazing live. The pop legend belted out the ballad in her trademark evening gown with clips from Deadpool 2 playing on a screen behind her. She was in fine vocal form and typically expressive. Now we just need radio to play along and the Celine revival to begin in earnest! Watch her in action up top.
