The artist/producer serves silky smooth retro R&B vibes on debut EP, 'Nostalgia.'

MarcLo made the leap from producer to artist in 2017 with debut EP, Nostalgia. The hitmaker, who has penned songs for Britney Spears, Bebe Rexha and Nick Jonas as part of The Monsters and the Strangerz, delivered a seven-song set brimming with ’90s R&B-inspired party jams. The journey continued earlier this year with “Sangria,” a hazy love song that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. It gets a belated visual, which finds our hero flirting with a waitress in a diner — a location that has been used heavily in music videos over the years.

Only this has an unusual twist. Magical tears give the diner’s sangria a hallucinogenic quality and the cute couple are soon making moves on a softly-lit dance floor. Or are they? It turns out that things aren’t quite what they seem. In addition to making trippy videos, MarcLo has been prepping the release of a new single called “Smile.” It drops on June 8 and is the first taste of the artist/producer’s second EP, Premonitions. While we wait for that to arrive in early fall, watch Marcus Lomax’s (his real name) “Sangria” up top.
