They’re Back: Shakira & Maluma Reunite On “Clandestino”

Shakira and Maluma make up one of pop’s perfect pairs. The Colombian superstars found an easy chemistry when they linked up on “Chantaje” in 2016. Amassing more than 2 billion views on YouTube with the accompanying video, the pair had a massive hit on their hands. And they haven’t looked back since then. Like Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull or and Diplo, the duo continues to deliver perfection from the studio. Earlier this year, they reunited on “Trap.” Buoyed by another sexy video (this one has been viewed more than 100 million times), the single became another obvious hit. Today (June 8), they are back at it with their new duet, “Clandestino,” and it could become their most successful release yet.

In a joint interview with Billboard from April, Shakira opened up about working with her collaborator. “Maluma is one of the most talented people I’ve met. He has this mental agility to write lyrics, melodies, and the best thing is, we always agree.” The ease and quick wit are on full display on “Clandestino.” Opening with a lush instrumentation, the hitmakers trade off lines over a slinky production. Their combined might all but guarantees this will be a global smash. And if we are lucky, a video will surface in the near future. Perhaps the F.A.M.E. crooner will even join Shak onstage to perform the anthem on her El Dorado Tour. We’ll have to wait and see though. While we wait, give their latest duet a listen below!
