Phoebe Ryan Interview
We speak to the rising pop star about her second EP, songwriting & Britney.

Phoebe Ryan’s love life is well documented in her music (2017 EP James captured the life cycle of her last relationship, from the initial elation to post-breakup fallout) and it seems like she’s still going through it if “Middle Finger” is any indication. The green-haired pop star, who recently lent her voice to Kaskade’s “Almost Back,” teams up with Quinn XCII for “Middle Finger” — an emo bop about being into someone who really doesn’t give a fuck about you. It’s not all doom and gloom, however, given that our heroes come to their senses by the end of the song.

“I’m really excited about this one because I actually think it’s a very bittersweet and playful song – but my mom hates when I use my middle fingers so I’m not sure she likes it – sometimes it’s a good sign when your parents don’t like your music,” Phoebe jokes in the press release. The “Straightjacket” hitmaker is similarly enthused about the song. “I’ve always been a big fan of Phoebe’s and was excited to finally work on music together,” he says. “The record is about giving your all to someone who doesn’t feel the same.” Listen below.
