Avril Lavigne Taps Songwriter Bonnie McKee For Her New Album
Avril Lavigne has been chipping away at her sixth album for a while now, promising that she was in the homestretch way back in April. Well, it’s almost July and the Canadian pop/rocker is still hard at work — but, at least, she’s keeping those updates coming. In her latest note to fans, the 33-year-old revealed that Bonnie McKee has joined the team. The songwriter has penned number one hits for the likes of Katy Perry (“Teenage Dream,” “Roar” and many others) and Britney Spears (“Hold It Against Me”), so expect fireworks.
“Loved working with the super talented, smart, independent, hawt blonde @bonniemckee on this record,” Avril tweeted. “Finishing touches.” It will be interesting to see if Bonnie was recruited to add a pop sensibility to the album. After all, the “What The Hell” hitmaker had previously hinted at something less commercial. “Personal, dear, intimate, dramatic, raw, powerful, strong and unexpected,” is how she described the album in January. “This record is a true emotional journey.” See the comeback queen’s latest update below.
