OneRepublic's 'Oh My My': Album Review
10 years into their career and OneRepublic is still on top. We review their new album.

OneRepublic took an extended break soon after the release of Oh My My. In an interview with Beats 1, Ryan Tedder reveals that he was suffering from anxiety and basically pulled the plug on the album in order to recover. The band returns today (June 26) with “Connections” and it has all the ingredients of a summer smash. “These days my waves get lost in the oceans,” Ryan sing-talks on the opening verse. “Seven billion swimmers, man I’m going through the motions.” That leads us to the instantly catchy chorus. “Can I get a connection?”

“Basically the whole idea was, and a lot of what this album is about, is human connection,” OneRepublic’s frontman tells Beats 1. “Trying to find authenticity and authentic connection. This is kind of one of like four or five that we honestly couldn’t decide what to put out first. In the history of One Republic, the biggest single is never the first thing we released — it’s usually the second or the third. So all things being equal we kind of said, ‘Ok, well… [this sounds] like a summer record. Let’s put it out and then two months later, let’s put out another one.'”

Something tells me they won’t need to rollout the followup that quickly. Take a listen below.
