Khalid Hosts A Parking Lot Party In His “OTW” Video
After finding breakout success in 2017, Khalid has kept busy in 2018. The 20-year-old lent his voice to a bevy of high-profile collaborations. He kicked off the new year by linking up with Normani on their slinky Love, Simon contribution “Love Lies.” The anthem broke into the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it is still sitting at number 37 this week. Meanwhile, he is amassing serious streams alongside Billie Eilish on their haunting “Lovely,” and he and Shawn Mendes stun on their evocative “Youth.” He also linked up with up-and-comer Sabrina Claudio on “Don’t Let Me Down” and is poised to dominate the charts alongside Martin Garrix on “Ocean.” Today (July 3) he links up with collaborators 6LACK and Ty Dolla $ign in the video for their single “OTW.”
The trio rolled out the catchy single in April. In the time since then it has been streamed more than 115 million times on Spotify. It peaked within the Top 60 on the charts, and the video will hopefully give it a bit of a delayed boost. In it, they perform the track outside a warehouse. The performance is viewed by a group of girls as they get ready for a night out. Eventually, they make it to an outdoor party and are joined by the hitmakers. The concept is simple but fun, and it could very easily go viral. In the meantime, I will be keeping my eyes peeled for a video for his last release, “Ocean.” In a little under a month the pair have been streamed nearly 40 million times on Spotify. They could easily have a Song of the Summer contender on their hands with the right push. In the meantime check out Khalid’s latest visual up top.
