Benny Blanco Announces Artist Project, Enlists Ed Sheeran, Halsey & Khalid
As a songwriter and producer, Benny Blanco has helped shape the sound of popular music over the last decade. The two-time Grammy winner gave us era-defining bops like Kesha’s “Tik Tok” and Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” as well as more recent hits like Selena Gomez’s “Same Old Love” and Julia Michaels’ “Issues.” He is now launching an artist project of his own. “I have been thinking about my future and how I want the rest of my career to unfold… I have decided to release some songs as Benny Blanco,” the hitmaker wrote on Instagram.
“Don’t worry I wont be singing on them with my shitty nasally jewish voice… I got all my friends to sing em,” the 30-year-old continued. It would appear that those friends include Halsey and Khalid, both of whom are rumored to feature on his debut single (apparently called “Eastside”). They were tagged on Benny’s Instagram post along with Ed Sheeran, who is believed to have co-written the song. “Hope u like them… and if u don’t I don’t care cuz I do.” Given that lineup, expect a smash.
