Does anyone remember Dee Dee King? That was the rap moniker for Dee Dee Ramone. The member who claimed to have been bored with the Ramones. Each group member was dealing with their addiction in the late ’80s. That’s around the time Dee Dee decided to try rapping because he was trying to stay sober.

“I got tired of the Ramones around the time I quit, and I really got into rap,” Dee Dee said. “I thought it was the new punk rock. LL Cool J was my biggest idol.” Matt Carlson of All Music had some choice words for Dee Dee’s first solo album, Standing in the Spotlight. “[it] will go down as one of the worst recordings of all time.”
