Something Is Coming: Mariah Carey Was Spotted In The Recording Studio
Pop legends never rest. Mariah Carey recently reclaimed the stage for her The Butterfly Returns show in Las Vegas. The hit-filled setlist and gorgeous costumes make for a must-see event. And it looks like she may have new music to perform onstage in the near future. Last year the diva unleashed her massively underrated “I Don’t,” and she has been spotted in and out of the recording studio frequently since then. Last week she posted several photos from the studio. In one, she revealed that she reunited with frequent collaborator, Jermaine Dupri. The pair have worked together on some of Mimi’s biggest hits including 2005’s chart-topping “We Belong Together” and “Don’t Forget About Us.”
Yesterday (July 18), two new pictures surfaced online, and producer Bobby Ross Avila shared some insight into how her latest session went. In the photo on her page, Mimi appears to be finessing some lyrics. However, in the picture on Avila’s page she is posing with the producer and his son. “Pulled an all nighter @ the studio,” he captioned the photo. He went on to reveal that Dupri and Johnya Austin were also involved. “My lil Champ hung in there with Daddy and he got his Mariah Pic,” he said. The fact that new music is on the way is exciting enough. But Avila ensured fans that “the Magic was in FULL EFFECT.” It sounds like something big is on the way!
Although we don’t know much about Mimi’s new project just yet, she has shared a couple of details about what to expect. In a March interview with V magazine she revealed that she has been chipping away at a project for the better part of year and a half. Although she remained mum on exact details, she revealed that she was focusing on crafting evocative lyrics. “I don’t want to give away too many people that I’m working with, but there’s a different approach that I’m taking as an artist. I think it’s like a fresh start. A lot of people see that whole other image. They see this diva… they don’t think songwriter. But I look at myself as a songwriter first, and then a singer. That’s what I love to do the most.” Check out the latest evidence of her hard work below!
