Stream Queen: Becky G Hosts A Supersized House Party In Her “Zooted” Video
Becky G has unleashed a string of mega-successful videos since dropping “Mayores” last year. The Bad Bunny-assisted visual amassed more than 1.2 billion streams. It was one of the most-viewed videos by a female artist in 2017. Buoyed by the impressive numbers, she soared to the number 3 spot on Billboard’s US Latin chart. The 21-year-old followed that up with “Sin Pijama.” Linking up with Natti Natasha on the slinky anthem, the pair dazzled in the sexy video. Today (July 20), the siren is returning her attention to an English-language project with the release of her new single, “Zooted.” Featuring French Montana and Farruko, it is a slickly produced banger about partying with a lover. “I’m zooted, so zooted. I’m getting higher off your love,” she coos over hip-hop beats. It sounds like a serious hit, and the accompanying video is likely to be another viral sensation.
Signifying the return of Becky from the block, it sees the “Can’t Stop Dancing” hitmaker hosting a supersized house party. After getting permission to host the event at a friend’s house and promising to keep it an intimate gathering, the hitmaker looks on in surprise as a crowd arrives. From there, a quiet night with wine rapidly transforms into an all-out extravaganza complete with bottles of liquor, dancing and flashy cars. French Montana’s arrival takes things to the next level, and the party gets progressively wilder before it is shut down by the police. Celebratory and outrageous, it is a fun project and offers a hint of what to expect from the singer in the future.
With any luck, Becky will ride “Zooted” up the Billboard Hot 100. In an interview with Galore last month, she revealed that she has plans to drop both an English and Spanish album in the near future. She opened up about what to expect with her English project. “There is the English side of me, that is working on music that is just as urban, but a little bit more R&B inspired… [it’s] a little bit reminiscent of the OG Becky from the block.” Meanwhile, her Spanish project “is definitely reggaeton-inspired with pop influence.” With two LPs on the way, it is clear we will be hearing plenty from the pop princess in the months to come.
