Marianne Faithfull is a former Rolling Stones groupie who was the long-time girlfriend of Stone’s frontman Mick Jagger until Keith Richards seduced her in 1969. Supposedly, Richards made his move on Marianne as a form of revenge after Jagger had a fling with Anita Pallenberg, who was Richard’s girlfriend at the time. Although Richards claims he’s not a jealous man, the lyrics to the track “Give Me Shelter” tell otherwise.
Apparently, Richards and Marianne only had one sexual encounter in which Richard bailed out of the window when Jagger had come home early. In Richard’s memoir, he admitted, “I was knocking Marianne, man […] while you were missing it I was kissing it.”
