Kesha is preparing to give fans a closer look at her life and creative process in her Apple Music documentary, Rainbow – The Film. Last year saw a renaissance of the pop star documentary with everyone from Lady Gaga and Demi Lovato to Camila Cabello and Pink releasing one of their own. Now, the “Praying” singer is getting in on the action. The 31-year-old took to Twitter today (July 30) to tease the project and reveal its official release date. “ANIMALS I’m so excited to share with you that #RainbowTheFilm is coming on August 10,” she wrote. This will help commemorate the one year anniversary of her third LP. She also shared an official trailer.

“Sometimes things feel like, like they’re too much to handle. You may be able to pull it together and put on a front in front of others. But inside you’re trapped. Suffocating slowly,” she admits over exclusive footage. “This record has quite literally saved my life,” she adds at the end of the trailer. The project will include “psychedelic vignettes,” which will help bring Kesha’s struggles to life in a unique way. In a press release shared with Billboard, the siren opened up about the release. “Making Rainbow the album was such a therapeutic process and given the opportunity to turn it into a three-dimensional piece of art has helped me find even deeper healing and catharsis,” she said. She added hopes that the release will have a larger impact on those who follow along.

“I hope this film inspires others to never give up even if you feel full of hurt or lost, because after the storm comes a rainbow. Depression, anxiety and mental illness are things we all need to talk about more, and there is no shame in asking for help. Making the decision to work on yourself is the bravest thing you can do. I hope this film helps bring light and love to everyone.” This definitely sounds like essential viewing when it debuts next month. Check out the trailer below!
