UPDATE: LOONA has released a teaser for “favOriTe,” and it sounds like an absolute smash. Listen below!

The wait is (almost) over. K-Pop group LOONA will release their debut single next month following an ambitious, multi-single rollout that’s been going on for nearly two years. The 12-piece girl group kicked things off back in September of 2016 with the unveiling of their first member, HeeJin. Over the course of the following months, they gradually introduced fans to new members one at a time. This March, they announced Olivia Hye as the final member. Each girl has released solo material, and they collaborated in a series of sub-units that exist within the larger unit. Yesterday (July 30), they revealed that they are finally ready to drop their first single as a whole. Called “favOriTe,” it drops August 7.

We don’t know what to expect from the track just yet, but it seems safe to assume that it will be a serious hit. Things are looking very good for LOONA as they prepare for their official debut. Based on the exceptional quality of their solo and sub-unit releases, they have developed a cult following and received praise from international media outlets including Dazed and NewNowNext. Last year, we collectively ranked all of their output as the best K-Pop music from 2017. We also listed them as one of five groups to keep an eye on in 2018. After years of anticipation, it is exciting to see what they have been working on together. Keep your eyes peeled, it seems like a new K-Pop supergroup is on the way. Check out their announcement below!
