Coldplay backs Cat Power's Chan Marshall on new ballad 'Wish I Was Here.'

Lana Del Rey has been locked in a studio with Jack Antonoff working on the followup to Lust For Life, but she somehow found the time to lend her voice to Cat Power’s “Woman” — the blissful lead single from the iconic singer/songwriter’s upcoming Wanderer album (due October 5). It’s always stressful when two of your favorite artists collaborate, but Chan Marshall comes through with a defiant, dreamy anthem that exceeds expectations. This is very much a Cat Power record, but Lana brings a romantic, ethereal twist.

“Today I’m sharing the video for my song, ‘Woman,’ directed by Greg Hunt,” the enduring indie darling wrote in an Instagram post. “Thank you to Lana Del Rey for lending your voice to a song so important to me. ‘Woman’ was the final song I recorded for my upcoming record, Wanderer, and the first full song I wanted to share with you.” Unfortunately, Lana doesn’t appear in the video, but we are treated to a Cat performing the song with her band intercut with the singer taking in some pretty scenery. Watch up top.
