Pop Worlds Collide As Kylie Minogue Wishes Madonna A Happy 60th Birthday
Pop worlds collided this morning (August 16) when Kylie Minogue fired up Twitter to wish Madonna a happy 60th birthday. “Happy birthday to Lady Madonna!!!” she raved. “I’m 14 years old, dancing and singing in my bedroom and she was just WOW!!! What a force and an inspiration. Enjoy your day Madonna!!!” Of course, this is far from the first time the Holy Queens of Pop have shown admiration for each other. The “Living For Love” diva once wore a t-shirt emblazoned with Kylie’s name on stage in London and regularly attended her colleague’s concerts.
As for Kylie, she has payed homage to the pioneer of dance-pop many times, most notably by mashing [her own] “Burning Up” with Madonna’s “Vogue” on the Showgirl Homecoming Tour. Pop fans have been hungering for a duet for 30 years, so perhaps this act of courtesy will set something in motion. It’s about time they give they gays what they want! Also, anything that drag Kylie out of her country phase would be greatly appreciated. (No shade to the very-good Golden, but enough’s enough). See the Aussie hitmaker’s tweet below.
