Star-Studded: David Guetta, Nicki Minaj, Jason Derulo & Willy William’s “Goodbye” Is A Banger

David Guetta has done it again. The French producer lined up a seriously impressive tracklist for his aptly titled seventh LP, 7. He already teamed up with the likes of Justin Bieber (“2U”), Sia (“Flames”) and Anne-Marie (“Don’t Leave Me Alone”) on the album, which drops September 14. But his latest singles are some of his most star-studded in recent memory. Today (August 24) Nicki Minaj, Jason Derulo and Willy William join him on “Goodbye,” and Black Coffee and Delilah Montagu hop on “Drive.” Both sound like hits, but the former is a particularly massive bop. I’d go so far as to say that the quartet may have a belated Song Of The Summer contender on their hands.

“It’s time to say goodbye, but don’t leave me alone. Just stay for the night,” Nicki coos on the opening lines. After the earnest introduction, the track erupts and transforms into a searing, Latin-tinged banger. Trading off verses, each hitmaker brings something special. The Queen rapper sounds particularly beguiling over the shimmering production. With the exception of “Bed,” the majority of her album highlighted her hip-hop sensibilities. But her latest collaboration is proof that she remains just as comfortable over vibrant pop beats. Hopefully her latest outing with the super-producer will net another “Hey Mama”-esque run on the charts.

In comparison to the brilliant excesses of “Goodbye,” “Drive” goes in a more vibey direction. Here, Montagu delivers a particularly compelling vocal performance, and she sounds perfectly at ease over the house-inspired production. Both tracks seem to imply that 7 will be one of Guetta’s most diverse projects to date. Another song to keep an eye peeled for is the Bebe Rexha and J Balvin-assisted “Say My Name.” Based on the lineup, it seems likely to be another banger in the style of “Goodbye.” And according to the Expectations siren, it is “coming sooooooooon.”

In the meantime, listen to “Goodbye” and “Drive” below!
