The Drop: Poppy & Lauren Sanderson
Your guide to New Music Friday featuring gems from Poppy and Lauren Sanderson.

Lauren Sanderson’s achievements as an independent artist are staggering. In 2017, the 22-year-old topped iTunes’ R&B Albums Chart with her self-released debut EP, Spaces, and booked an 18-city tour of North America. It will be fascinating to see what happens with her major label debut. Don’t Panic, a bold and eclectic six-track EP, arrived on Friday (August 24) and it’s brimming with potential hits. It’s hard to pick a standout, but “The Only One” has the kind of chorus that demands attention.

As such, it’s not surprising that the hip-hop/pop hybrid is being rolled out as a single. The video arrived today and it’s a colorful ride that showcases Lauren’s feisty personality and edge. She begins the clip by performing with her color-coordinated girls in a supermarket, before taking it to a laundromat. Multiple Laurens then take turns looking pissed off on a sofa. After all, the song is about a woman reminding a player that she has just as many options. Watch the colorful clip up top and stream Don’t Panic below.
