Love & Prayers: Bebe Rexha, Kehlani, Khalid & More Respond To Mac Miller’s Death

The music world is reeling in the wake of news about Mac Miller’s death. Today (September 7), TMZ reported that the 26-year-old died following an apparent overdose. Police were called to his San Fernando Valley home, where he was allegedly reported dead on the scene. Since the news broke, fellow musicians, collaborators, friends and fans have taken to social media to respond to the news. Bebe Rexha expressed her sorrow about the loss and shared support for others suffering. “I am so deeply saddened to hear of the passing of @MacMiller. Sending love and light to all of his friends, family and fans,” she wrote.

Khalid spoke directly the Swimming rapper in a tweet. “this hurts my heart man RIP bro,” he said. Chance The Rapper reflected on joining the rapper on tour early in his career. “But beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew,” he wrote. “Great man. I loved him for real. Im completely broken. God bless him.” This was a sentiment Solange Knowles also shared. “Rest in your peace Mac Miller. Always exuded so much kindness and goodness. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us all.”

Kehlani struggled with the news in a series of tweets. “I WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH,” she wrote before urging her followers to “check on ur friends even the strong funny ones.” Post Malone was equally stricken. “You were such an incredible person. You changed so many lives. Had so much love in your heart. You inspired me throughout highschool, and I wouldn’t be where I was today without you. Never a more kind and sincere and beautiful person. I fucking love you mac.”

John Mayer, who collaborated with Mac on a song for Swimming, took to Instagram. Posting a dark image, he captioned it “I’m so sad that you couldn’t stay, Mac. I’m so terribly sad.” Fifth Harmony member Dinah Jane expressed her shock. “Lost for words … please be kind to yourselves,” she urged followers. Victoria Justice and The Chainsmokers directly commented on issues with addiction. “Devastating news to hear about another young person overdosing…this time losing their life. RIP Mac Miller, gone far too soon,” Justice wrote.

Meanwhile, The Chainsmokers shared their sorrow over Mac’s death and then urged anyone struggling with addiction to seek assistance. “And for those struggling with addiction or know someone who is, please seek help you are not alone these things don’t just get better.” Others who have shared messages include Sammy Adams, Missy Elliott, Diplo, Shawn Mendes, Maren Morris, Joel Madden, Jaden Smith and more.
