Lana Del Rey’s Next Single Is Reportedly Called “Venice Bitch”
Lana Del Rey’s new single, “Mariners Apartment Complex,” arrived yesterday (September 12) and soared straight into the top 10 on iTunes. From the Cali-centric lyrics to the hazy, ’70s vibe, this is peak LDR. It reminds me a little of “West Coast” on tranquilizers, which turns out to be a very, very good thing. As such, I’m thoroughly excited for the followup. The hitmaker revealed that she was releasing two late summer singles and according to Fader, the second one is called “Venice Bitch” and it drops on September 18.
It must be said that Lana refers to herself as “Venice Bitch” in “Mariners Apartment Complex,” so this could be an introduction to a new character or persona. (Or maybe she’s just been hanging out in Marina Del Rey). Fader also confirms that both songs were produced by Jack Antonoff. I was slightly skeptical of this pairing, but so far, so good. If “Mariners Apartment Complex” is any indication, the “Young & Beautiful” diva has ushered Jack into her sepia-colored world instead of the other way around. An album is expected to follow in early 2019.
