Khalid is certainly proving to be one of music’s most prolific acts. Since dropping his debut album, American Teen, last year, the 20-year-old has churned out content with impressive regularity. He kicked off 2018 alongside Normani on “Love Lies.” The slinky anthem dropped in February and made it onto the Love, Simon soundtrack. Since then it has steadily climbed the Billboard Hot 100. Recently it peaked within the Top 10, becoming his biggest single to date in the US. That’s not all though. The crooner also linked up with fellow up-and-comer Billie Eilish on the morose “Love Lies,” which amassed more than 195 million streams on Spotify alone.

A series of collaborations followed. He teamed up with Ty Dolla $ign and 6LACK on “OTW.” Khalid called for change alongside Shawn Mendes on the rousing “Youth” and landed another streaming hit with Martin Garrix’s “Ocean.” Meanwhile, he soared to the top of the charts in the UK with a feature on Benny Blanco’s “Eastside.” Today (September 14), he adds two hits to his ever growing list with the release of “Better” and his new 6LACK collab, “Seasons.” Of the two, the former sounds like it may be his next to impact the charts.

An atmospheric love song, “Better” is tailored for crossover success. “I love to see you shine in the night like the diamond you are. I’m on the other side, it’s alright, just hold me in the dark,” he croons over a compelling production. “Nothing feels better than this,” he adds. In a surprise twist, the track also works in a tribute to his hometown on the cover. “With love, to the 915,” he wrote in tribute to El Paso, Texas. Meanwhile “Seasons” appears on 6LACK’s album East Atlanta Love Letter, and it explores a different stage of a relationship. On it, the duo look forward to a change in the seasons after a fight. “I’m looking forward for the brighter,” Khalid announces on his verse.
