Kanye West Announces His New Project, ‘Yandhi’

Kanye West is definitely keeping busy in 2018. The controversial rapper already dropped two albums this summer, and he plans to roll out another body of work before the end of the month. Rumors started circulating about the potential of a new project yesterday (September 17) when he posted a photo of a blank CD on Instagram. Mere hours later he returned to the service to confirm the title and release date for his mysterious new release. Called Yandhi, it is set to arrive September 29. It is currently unclear if it will be a full-length album or something more experimental, but fans were quick to note similarities to the cover of 2013’s Yeezus LP. In a convenient twist, it also arrives the same day the 41-year-old will perform on Saturday Night Live. I’d say it is safe to expect he will show off new content on the show.

Despite making some seriously incendiary comments earlier this summer, Kanye has continued to perform surprisingly well on the charts. Ye, a star-studded album that dropped in June, topped the Billboard 200. The collection also yielded his first Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 since 2015’s “FourFiveSeconds.” Its lead single, “Yikes,” hit number 8 on the chart. His next offering, “All Mine,” landed at number 11. The hitmaker also teamed up with Kid Cudi later in June. Branding themselves Kids See Ghosts, they hit the number 2 spot on the Billboard 200 with their self-titled debut.

Considering this, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kanye lands another high debut later this month. Another thing to keep an eye peeled for is a collaborative project between Ye and Chance the Rapper. During a recent appearance in Chicago, they teased that the collection would be titled Good Ass Job. However, we’re still waiting on that release date. In the meantime, check out the Yandhi cover and confirmation below!
