The time has come! Lauren Jauregui is readying the release of her debut solo single, “Expectations.” Yesterday (October 1) the “He Like That” siren took to social media to post map coordinates and a vague promise. “8pm,” she wrote. “First come, first serve.” Of course, fans rushed to the mysterious location. Shortly thereafter a photo appeared online confirming the good news. One lucky fan uploaded a shot of a singed poster that revealed “Expectations” was dropping October 12. Lauren made things official by uploading a short video teaser online. In the black-and-white footage she walks down a hallway and stands in the middle of a garden while a fuzzy version of the track plays in the background. Prepare yourselves, because it sounds as though a serious hit is on the way.

“Expectations” is one of three songs Lauren live-premiered on her first night opening for Halsey on the Hopeless Fountain Kingdom Tour. Over electric guitar strings the hitmaker speaks directly to a lover about their inability to communicate. “Wish I had no expectations. I wish that I could get it through your head with no confrontation. I really wish we could talk about it instead,” she pleads. “Wish I had no expectations. But I expect, you expect, we expect.” Hopefully this means the Fifth Harmony member’s debut album is following closely behind. In an interview with Nylon she opened up about the recording process and what it meant to her. “I was able to prove to myself throughout this whole process that I am the person that I say that I am,” she admitted. “Even if nobody else recognizes it.”

With any luck, she will follow in the footsteps of former bandmates Camila Cabello and Normani. The former topped the Billboard Hot 100 with “Havana” and returned to the Top 10 with “Never Be The Same.” Meanwhile the latter teamed up with Khalid on “Love Lies.” The slinky bop has proven to be a truly organic hit that recently broke into the Top 10 and hit the number one spot on Top 40 radio. Meanwhile Dinah Jane launched her solo career with “Bottled Up” last month. The simmering anthem captured 5H’s pop aesthetic and has amassed more than 2 million streams on Spotify in under two weeks. The only member we’re still waiting for more information from is Ally Brooke, who recently revealed that she participated in an all-female writing camp.

However, it is safe to say that the focus will be fully on Lauren in the coming weeks. Check out the teaser below while we wait for her debut single to arrive!
