Kylie Minogue's 'Golden': Album Review
We dissect Kylie's country-pop reinvention on 2018's very good 'Golden.'

According to Music Week, Kylie Minogue is rolling out “Music’s Too Sad Without You” as the fifth single from Golden. (I guess that makes “A Lifetime To Repair” the fourth single despite no video or promotion). There is logic to this. Not only is it a great song, but ballads are traditionally released in the UK around Christmas. According to the same article, a number of TV spots have been booked, which hints at a major push by the record label. Let’s hope the pop icon’s wintery duet with Jack Savoretti connects with easy-listening lovers across Europe!

As much as I love Golden, it has fallen victim to the Kylie curse of questionable single choices. While none of the decisions have been as criminal as “Better Than Today” or “I Was Gonna Cancel,” it hurts my heart that genre-defying gems like “Lost Without You,” “Live A Little” and “One Last Kiss” will only be enjoyed by the faithful. On the other hand, “Music’s Too Sad Without You” has the potential to tap into the lucrative Christmas market and should keep the album on the charts over the festive season. Revisit it below.
