A new Little Mix era has officially arrived, and the girls marked the occasion by teaming up with the queen of rap on an earnest bop. Today (October 12), they dropped their Nicki Minaj-assisted “Woman Like Me.” Anticipation has been high for the project since its release date surfaced online a couple weeks ago. Since then, the “Touch” hitmakers have made it very clear that it would be an empowering anthem. “Our new single is all about celebrating incredible women in every shape and form,” they explained in a post on Instagram. “We don’t feel like there are enough places to celebrate women right now…so we wanted to make one!” And they do just that over a vibrant production courtesy of Steve Mac.

Highlighting each of the girls’ distinct voices, it sees them flaunt their unique personalities. “Insecure but I’m working with it. Many things that I could get rid of. Ain’t about to give it up,” they admit. “I made a few mistakes; I regret it nightly. I broke a couple hearts that I wear on my sleeve,” they add. However, instead of hiding their flaws, they embrace them over simmering beats. Meanwhile, Nicki’s verse is particularly fierce. “Greatest of all time, cause I’m a chameleon. I switch it up for every era. I’m really bomb,” she spits. “These bitches really wanna be Nicki, I’m really mom.” It is definitely one of the “Chun-Li” rapper’s best pop crossover moments in recent memory.

The ladies capped off the release with a colorful and retro-themed lyric video that features footage of women from various eras. It is clear that Little Mix’s latest release is a serious moment of girl power, and it feels like their next big hit. Hopefully, this will be the one that helps them further establish a hold in US markets. Although their 2016 effort Glory Days spawned four Top 10 hits in the UK, none of them cracked the Top 50 on the Billboard Hot 100. They also struggled to find a home on US radio with this year’s underrated Cheat Codes collaboration, “Only You.” All things considered, they are overdue for a massive moment, and this could very well be it.

Keep an eye peeled for the official music video, which will hopefully arrive in the near future. In the meantime, press play and check out the lyric video below!
