Kylie Minogue's 'Golden': Album Review
We dissect Kylie's country-pop reinvention on 2018's very good 'Golden.'

In many ways, Kylie Minogue has saved the best for last. The pop icon recently announced “Music’s Too Sad Without You,” a melancholy-drenched duet with Jack Savoretti, as the fifth and final single from Golden. And, as much as I would like to have remixes and videos for underrated bops like “One Last Kiss,” “Live A Little” and “Every Little Part Of Me,” it makes the most sense from a commercial perspective. Balladry works well at this time of year and the song becomes more enchanting with each listen.

The fact that a big promo push (including multiple TV performances) is planned doesn’t hurt either. Nor does the arrival of a stunning video. Directed by Joe Connor, “Music’s Too Sad Without You” was filmed at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Italy and it is a visual feast. Kylie has never looked lovelier, lounging around in a sexy satin slip and rocking a chic suit. Jack also stares dreamily into the camera, making this gorgeous pairing come to life. As much as I enjoyed “Stop Me From Falling,” this is the classiest visual from Golden by far.

I’m so excited that this era has been a commercial and critical success (fuck you, ARIAs!) and can’t wait to see what Queen Kylie does next. In the meantime, what her strut her stuff up top.
