Zayn Malik makes a sweeping romantic gesture in his dramatic 'Let Me' video.

Zayn Malik deals with love, loss and desire in the digital age on his new single, “Fingers.” The 25-year-old is becoming an expert at the surprise release. Yesterday (October 17), he teased the eerie single cover before later announcing that it was dropping today. Although the moody cover, which delivers serious Kim Petras Turn Off The Light, Vol. 1 vibes, seemed to imply we were getting a spooky stand-alone track, the actual song is in line with everything else he has released this year. Over a smooth production courtesy of Saltwives, the “Sour Diesel” star opens up about his romantic struggles. “Fucked and I want ya. Looked and I loved ya. Stuck, now I need ya,” he laments on the opening lines. Moving into the chorus, we realize his feelings may be unrequited.

“I’ve been fucked and I want ya. I can’t even text ya. Cause my fingers ain’t broken, but my heart is,” he laments. However, he finds the wherewithal to send one last text. “If you wanna let me know where you hiding, I could come and love you,” he vows. Considering his creative hot streak, it is hardly surprising that Zayn has another catchy earworm on his hands. The R&B vibes gel particularly well with his Timbaland-assisted “Too Much,” and it seems like the crooner may have his next global hit with the right push. After releasing a string of action-packed music videos, I’m hoping to see him bring “Fingers” to life in a unique way. And hopefully this means that the arrival of his sophomore album is right around the corner.

At this point the release is shrouded in mystery. It’s been two years since he dropped his debut album, Mind Of Mine, in 2016. Last year it seemed like he was gearing up to kickstart a new era with the release of his Sia-assisted “Dusk Till Dawn.” Since then we’ve gotten a string of pretty strong buzz tracks but no official confirmation on a tracklist or final release date. One thing that is clear is that the hitmaker is hoping to organize a Cardi B feature moving forward. He hopped on Twitter yesterday to let the “I Like It” rapper know he had a “sick tune” and wanted to collaborate.

If he manages to land the feature, the former One Directioner may end up with both Cardi and Nicki Minaj on his new album. That would be interesting to say the least. While we wait for any more news about the LP, give Zayn’s latest anthem a spin below!
