Shawn Mendes & Zedd’s “Lost In Japan” video arrives tonight (October 25) and it pays homage to Sofia Coppola’s Lost In Translation — with the Canadian superstar taking on the role of Bill Murray, while 13 Reasons Why actress Alisha Boe does an admirable job fills Scarlett Johansson’s shoes. What does that mean? Well, the 20-year-old spends a lot of time hanging out his hotel room, between photo shoots and other media obligations. And then, after a chance encounter in an elevator, romance blossoms.

After taking a less-is-more approach with recent visuals, “Lost In Japan” is Shawn’s most engaging and elaborate clip to date. The remix is already off to a flying start at pop radio (top 20 and climbing), but this should give it another burst of momentum. Time will tell if this is the last single from the pop star’s self-titled third LP. There are still a lot of potential hits on the album, but Shawn is notoriously prolific. Watch the charming video for “Lost In Japan” up top.
