Astrid S Interview
We speak to the Norwegian pop star about soaring new single, 'Emotion.'

A biting examination of a dysfunctional relationship, Astrid S’ “Emotion” stands out as one of the year’s best pop songs. It’s only fitting then, that it get an equally impressive video. Filmed on location in Iceland and inspired by Black Swan, the visual finds our heroine battling inner (or in this case, outer) demons. “I wanted the video to show a loving but toxic relationship,” the Norwegian pop star explains. “I also wanted it to show a different side of the song, how you sometimes can be your own biggest enemy, being self-destructive.”

“To me the song could be about any kind of relationship,” Astrid continues. “It could be a friend, family member, boyfriend, girlfriend or yourself. I hope this video makes it possible for people to interpret it in their own way and relate to it with their own story.” In our recent Q&A, the 22-year-old revealed that “Emotion” is the lead single from her much-anticipated debut LP. (The lovely “Think Before I Talk” might make it on there as a bonus track). Watch the epic, Andreas Ohman-directed video up top.
